Bollywood superstar Govinda has claimed that the Indian film industry hatched a plot against him to make sure he doesn’t get work. During an interview with the Times of India, the actor revealed that he has incurred losses of around INR16 crore in the last decade due to being passed over for roles, which he sighted was part of a conspiracy against him.

The veteran stated that he firmly believes something sinister is at play in the industry. "In the last 14-15 years, I was treated badly by some people from the fraternity. “Apne bhi paraye ho jaate hain (friends turn their backs on you). If fate is not on your side, then your own people also turn against you.”

Irreplaceable Govinda looking for his place in Bollywood

In the same interview, Govinda was asked how he felt about the recent remake of Coolie No 1, which has been directed by David Dhavan and stars his son Varun. The film, which is a reimagining of the beloved 1995 hit originally starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, opened to incredibly negative reviews. Despite this, the legend gracefully responded, “You will never see me speaking against others. While others often like to talk about me, I never talk about their work or judge it because I respect everybody's hard work and the money invested."

I was supposed to star in Avatar: Govinda

This is a surprisingly pleasant response, considering Govinda’s not so pleasant relationship with Dhawan, whom he has had some very negative things to say about in the past. In fact, the pair do not speak to one another and according to Govinda, have not done so for over six years.

'Govinda in dire need of psychological help'

When speaking on the show Aap Ki Adalat, the 90s superstar revealed that he contacted Dhawan multiple times when he was attempting to restart his career but the latter refused to return his calls.

Despite this, Govinda is maintaining a positive outlook on life and claims he is “ready to kick-start of 2021 in a big way.”
