30 shops sealed in Chakwal district

Administration comes down hard on lockdown violators

CHAKWAL:

The Chakwal district administration has imposed smart lockdown in five tehsils of the l district on Sunday.

Traders, taking the warnings lightly started opening markets in the morning, however, the administration came in action and sealed more than 30 shops.

Only the stores dealing in essential items remained open, while rest of markets remained shut.

Health officials said that the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) tests for those coming back from the UK are underway in the laboratories across Chakwal district but no cases of the British variant have been reported so far.

The infection rate of the pandemic has surged in the district during the past few days and some six people have tested during the past 24 hours. Moreover at least 30 people have contracted the disease in Jhelum district as per reports on Sunday.
