Digging up Dirt: Soil Survey of Pakistan in September

Courses: Advanced Diploma in Soil Technology (3 months) and Advanced Diploma in Land Resource Survey & GIS (6 months)

A Soil Survey of Pakistan (SSP) is to be conducted in September, along with two training courses in order to impart training for mitigating increasing soil challenges. According to an SSP spokesperson, a project, National Institute of Research in Soils and Geomatics, was started in 2007 and would be completed by June 30, 2012 at an estimated cost of Rs51 million. The main object of this project is to offer different courses and trainings to research organisations, provincial agriculture departments and other stakeholders to craft short, medium and long term training programmes for Pakistani students to maximise agricultural produce. Two diploma courses will also be started in collaboration with TEVTA, including an Advanced Diploma in Soil Technology (3 months) and Advanced Diploma in Land Resource Survey & GIS (6 months).
