Reply sought in plea against LESCO chief’s appointment
Lahore High Court (LHC)’s Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh sought reply from the quarters concerned, by March 22, on a plea challenging the procedure on appointment of Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) chief.
Justice Shaikh also ordered to club all petitions in a relevant court. Petitioner Amjad Hussain, in his petition, had contended that no SECP’s rules are being obeyed while appointing the LESCO chief, adding that the procedure being adopted recently for the appointment of LESCO chief is in violation of said rules. Presently, the federal government gave an advertisement in newspapers for the appointment of the LESCO chief.
No age limit had been mentioned for said post. And the engineering degree holder was declared eligible for said appointment despite an electrical engineering degree holder could only be appointed on said post under the rules. He prayed the court that directions be passed to quarters concerned to declare null and void the procedure being adopted for the appointment of the LESCO chief. He also prayed that the recruitment process be stayed until the fate of this petition is decided
