Neetu Singh reveals how she coped with Rishi Kapoor's death

Bollywood veteran Rishi Kapoor passed away in April last year, following a two-year-long battle with cancer. Almost one year later, his wife and actor Neetu Kapoor has spilled the beans on how she is coping with her husband’s death. She revealed that returning to work was something that helped her come out of depression. “I had gathered courage to work after Rishi passed away in 2020. I told myself that work would help me get over my grief. It was the only way to get on with life,” Mid-Day quoted her as saying.

Taking to Instagram earlier, Neetu shared how her two children, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor, supported her immensely and gave her time to heal. Calling 2020 a tough year, the Amar Akbar Anthony star had penned, “2020 was quite a roller coaster! When you (Rishi) left, I felt like a deer caught in the headlights not knowing where to go. Jug Jugg Jeeyo was cathartic at that time as it gave me something to look forward to. Then Covid happened and I could have never gone through so much without my cuties, my children. Thank you both for holding on #RnR #jugjuggjeeyo.”

Speaking about contracting Covid-19 on the sets of Raj Mehta’s Jugg Jugg Jeeyo, Neetu mentioned producer Karan Johar made arrangements to fly her back to Mumbai in an air ambulance. “Many others on the set of Jug Jugg Jeeyo got infected. But I was feeling terribly guilty, so I came back, self-quarantined and after testing negative, in around 10 days, I resumed work. Everyone was young on the sets and said that Neetu aunty would need time to recover, but I made it,” she said. “I was being made to quarantine in Chandigarh but I wanted to return. Karan arranged an air ambulance for me, to be put in a plastic enclosure and transported to my hometown.”

Jugg Jugg Jeeyo also stars Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani. Neetu was first to break the news about Ranbir’s ill-health on Instagram this week. The actor tested positive for Covid-19 on March 8. "Thank you for your concern and your good wishes," she wrote on the photo-sharing platform. "Ranbir has tested positive for Covid-19. He is on medication and recovering well. He is in self-quarantine at home and following all precautions,” Neetu concluded.
