Inoculation of senior citizens begins in K-P
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa government on Wednesday begun vaccinating citizens above the age of 70 throughout the province.
In the first phase, frontline health workers were vaccinated whereas citizens above the age of 70 would get vaccinated in the second inoculating phase.
The province has received the second consignment of vaccines from the National Command and Control Center.
The vaccination process was carried out successfully at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) and Khyber Teaching Hospital. According to a press release by LRH, the Covid vaccination for common citizens above the age of 70 who registered themselves at 1166 has begun. The record of all the registered citizens is cross checked with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) before they receive a coronavirus jab.
LRH is the only hospital that has the largest coronavirus vaccination center which is now facilitating common citizens.
More than 100 senior citizens were selected through a digital mechanism receive the Covid jab on the first day at LRH vaccination centre established in the OPD.
According to a citizen who received his first coronavirus jab, the response of people is very encouraging and they were thankful to the government for taking steps to keep the common man safe from contracting the deadly virus.
“This is very safe vaccine and has no side effects or reaction seen so far. People should come and appreciate this facility disregard rumours being spread on social media regarding it”, said another person who was vaccinated earlier this morning.
The coronavirus vaccination center in LRH is open from 8am to 06pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) also initiated the inoculation process on Wednesday.
According to a press release by KTH, approximately 50 persons falling in the age limit bracket received the vaccination shots.
A total of 1,166 people have registered for Covid vaccinations in facilities across K-P.
A press statement issued here on Wednesday stated that about fifty persons above the age limits were got shots and total of 1166 people have registered for vaccinations in the facilities across KP.
The hospital administration has initiated a token system for registered persons and confirmed that no reactions were reported in the vaccinated persons up till now. The vaccine is being administered under the supervision of senior professors at the facility.
According to the KTH spokesperson, the inoculation timing begins from 8am to 6pm in the evening. The provincial health department provides daily doses for the registered people.
