Martyred cop laid to rest with police honours

FIR registered under sections of terrorism

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI:

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has registered a case of a martyred policeman and two injured in the precincts of Golra police station on Tuesday.

The first information report (FIR) has been registered under sections of terrorism, a spokesperson said. The martyred constable was buried in his native village of Lalyani in Sargodha while the funeral was attended by a large number of villagers.

IGP Qazi Jamilur Rehman, DIG Operations Afzal Ahmed Kausar and other senior officials participated in funeral prayers held in Islamabad Police Lines, while a contingent of police presented a guard of honour to the martyred constable.

Saddar SP Hamza Humayun laid a floral wreath on behalf of Islamabad DIG on the deceased’s grave. He met with the victim’s family and expressed condolences on behalf of the police department.

The IGP said the police department stood with the family of the deceased head constable Qasim, adding that the sacrifice of the personnel would not go in vain.

Meanwhile, Rasm-e-Qul of the martyred Inspector Muhammad Imran Abbas was held at the Jama Masjid of Rawalpindi Police Lines. Hamd and Naat were recited before the prayers for the deceased while religious scholars also delivered speeches.

CPO, SSP Operations, CTO, Rawal SP, and other police officials were present on the occasion.
