Thanks Lala for your prayers: Shaheen Shah Afridi
For the last couple of days, social media was ablaze with news of all-rounder Shahid Afridi's eldest daughter Aqsa and young fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi getting engaged. Rumour had it that the apparent couple to be will exchange rings in few years after Aqsa's education will be completed.
A sports journalist then took to Twitter and corroborated that the two are indeed set to tie the knot. "With permission from both families, I would like to clarify the engagement rumours between Shaheen Afridi and the daughter of Shahid Afridi," Ihtisham ul Haq tweeted, adding, "The proposal has been accepted; it is thought that a formal engagement will be done within two years, following the completion of her [Aqsa's] education."
The journalist went on to add, "The reason behind this tweet is to clarify the suspicion caused by social media. With respect to both families; please do await their own official announcements as they are currently in talks. I would like to request all individuals to respect their privacy during this auspicious time."
After making headlines, Shahid took to Twitter and addressed the ongoing rumours. "Shaheen's family approached my family for my daughter."
He went on to add, "Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven. If Allah wills this match will be made too. My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field."
Soon after, the youngster expressed his gratitude to Shahid and penned, "Alhumdulillah. Thanks, Lala for your prayers. May Allah SWT make things easier for everyone. You are the pride of the entire nation."
Aqsa, 19, and Shaheen, 20 will reportedly tie the knot in few years if the proposal is accepted.
