Covid caseload up by 190 in Islamabad

Several local-level administrative decisions were made to control the disease

ISLAMABAD:

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Sunday that 190 more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the federal capital in a day.

According to an NCOC official, as many as 251 cases were reported on Saturday which was the highest figure during the last two months while 157 cases were reported on Friday.

He said that so far 45,519 cases have been recorded in the federal capital with 508 cases resulting in deaths while 42,853 patients have recovered completely.

The district administration continued surveillance of different streets of the capital to reduce transmission of the infection in selected streets of some sectors.

They also started taking action against violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) while visiting marriage halls, markets, and petrol pumps by its inspection teams.

Commenting on the situation, an official of the Ministry of National Health Services said that several local-level administrative decisions were made to control the disease.

He advised the citizens to continue to follow social distancing, use of masks, and other precautionary measures to stop increasing local transmission of Covid-19 in the city.
