Defamation case: Defence witnesses summoned

An additional district & sessions judge summoned defence witnesses Leena Ghani and Farhan Ali on March 20 for cross-examination in a defamation suit filed by singer Ali Zafar against singer Meesha Shafi for allegedly launching a smear campaign against him on social media.

As proceedings commenced on Saturday, the cross-examination of defence witness Iffat Umar was completed by the petitioner’s counsel.

“What sort of impact it will leave on Meesha and Ali if the court decides this matter?” Ali’s counsel asked Iffat Umar. “It will leave a negative impact on children, whoever among them is telling a lie,” Iffat replied.
