DMS Haripur Hospital becomes latest casualty of coronavirus

Another doctor has died of Covid-19 in K-P bringing the total casualty figures of medics to 47 who fell victim to Coronavirus in the province.

Dr Sagheer Ahmad was Senior Medical Officer management cadre and was currently working as DMS District Headquarters Hospital Haripur. He was under treatment at Shifa International Islamabad and had been on ventilator due to failure of his both kidneys. He passed away last night. He was laid to rest at TIP Colony, Haripur. So far around 76 health workers have lost their lives in the pandemic in the province including 47 doctors, 12 paramedics, six nurses and 12 drivers, laboratory attendant and ward attendant.

Five die of Covid

Five people have died of Covid in the province in the past 24 hours, pushing up the total number of people who lost their lives so far to 2,104. Around 257 new cases have also surfaced bringing the total number to 73,515 in the province. The number of active cases stand at 2,305. Talking to The Express Tribune an official of Health Department said that four people have died of Coronavirus in Peshawar and one in Swabi district. He said that around 160 people have recovered successfully. The number of people recovered stands at 69,106. Around 105 new cases have been reported from Peshawar district, 29 from Charsadda, 20 from Nowshera, 20 from Mardan, 14 from Swat and 10 from Abbotabad.
