Shahveer Jafry’s PSL flex might have just backfired

'I even high-fived a player or two,' he said - which, if true, might have resulted in a breach of bio-secure bubble

Cricket fans were left disheartened after The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to postpone the ongoing sixth edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), after seven players and one support staff official tested positive for Covid-19.

This raised ample questions over PCB’s bio-secure bubble arrangements and reservations from foreign players.

It was also revealed that Peshawar Zalmi’s Head Coach Daren Sammy and skipper Wahab Riaz were reintegrated with other members of the squad without following necessary bio-secure protocols. The step was taken after Zalmi refused to take to the field against Lahore Qalandars without the duo.

Families of the players were also reported to have joined the bubble without quarantining or undergoing proper testing. They were also seen mingling with other players in the stands at National Stadium, Karachi.

As fans reacted to the postponement of PSL, a video of YouTuber Shahveer Jafry and Danyal Zafar talking to Mahira Khan and host Zainab Abbas went viral on Twitter.

Khan, the brand ambassador of Peshawar Zalmi, attended a match against Quetta Gladiators with the cast of her first-ever production, Barwaan Khiladi. The web-series is based on the life of a struggling cricketer. Jafry, while responding to Khan's query whether he has seen a live match before, said, "I have even high-fived a player or two."

This prompted shocked reactions from Khan and Zafar. "But not on the field, right?" the Verna star asked. But what the popular YouTuber might have forgotten is that by doing so, he could have breached the bio-secure bubble. Jafry has since irked many with his comments. He is yet to respond to his remarks.
