Rape attempt on teenage girl foiled

Suspect entered victim’s house from door left open

LAHORE:

A man and his daughter-in-law foiled a rape attempt on his teenage daughter in Khurrianwala on Friday.

The alleged rapist, who entered the house and tried to rape the teenage girl, reportedly bit a finger of the girl’s father which was separated from his hand.

Police registered a case and started searching for the fugitive.

A stand had been taken in the case filed by Muhammad Khalid Nadeem, the son of Ahmad Din, a resident of Raza Town Street No 6, 40 FATA, that when he went to a nearby shop to buy cigarettes, Saqib, a resident of Razaabad Street No 22, saw the door open and entered the house and tried to rape his daughter.

Hearing the noise of the victim, her sister-in-law Ayesha came down from the roof who grabbed the suspect.

During the rape attempt, the suspect tore the victim’s clothes. In the meantime, the victim’s father returned to the house and caught the suspect.

However, the suspect bit the finger of Khalid due to which it was cut and fell on the ground while the rapist managed to escape from the crime scene.

Khalid’s son Usman took him to General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad, Razaabad for immediate treatment.

Police registered a case against the suspect under Section 337 F5 and 354 PPC and started searching for him.

Incidents of sexual violence against women and girls is rampant across the province.

On February 5, a 20-year-old woman was gang-raped by two of her neighbours in Mozang area. The victim was alone at her residence when her neighbours Ehsan Ali and Hassan barged into the house, subjected her to severe torture and then sexually assaulted her.

On January 31, two teenage girls were sexually assaulted in separate incidents in Dijkot.

Muhammad Zeeshan’s 14-year-old niece was alone in her house when her brother-in-law Nadeem sexually assaulted her in Hajveri Town area of Sargodha Road.

Separately, the suspects Fahad and Shehzad entered the house of Usman Zia’s daughter in Johar Colony where they gang-raped her at gunpoint.

On January 21, it was revealed that a teenage girl became pregnant after allegedly being raped by unknown persons in Chak Jhumra.

The 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by unknown persons who abandoned her when her condition deteriorated.

As a result of the incident, the minor girl was diagnosed to be pregnant.

On January 18, a minor girl was sexually assaulted in Dijkot. The 10-year-old girl was abducted and raped by a motorcyclist in the Razaabad area.

He later threw the unconscious girl, near Lasani Bridge.

On November 20 last year, three women including a teenage girl were sexually assaulted in Dijkot.

Reportedly, one of the victims was raped by her ex-husband. According to the police report, a resident of Amin Park Street, Razaabad was married to Muhammad Asif who divorced her in 2005. On the day of the incident, the accused Asif called his ex-wife on the pretext of meeting his children at a friend’s house where the accused sexually assaulted her.

In Razaabad, Nadeem Ahmed, a resident of Kokianwala, and his wife were called by Faisal, a resident of Chak No 100GB, to his house. The couple was on their way to collect the money given to them as a loan when they were taken to an empty house. The accused Faisal along with his accomplices locked Nadeem in a room and raped his wife.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old daughter of Allah Dutta, a resident of Chak No 240RB, on Jaranwala Road, was raped by an unidentified accused.

On October 9 last year, a teenage girl was allegedly gang raped in Manga Mandi area of Lahore.
