Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz stalwart Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said when elections are stolen in a country, the nation has to pay in the form of inflated gas and electricity bills.
He made these remarks at a gathering organised by PML-N late on Wednesday night to welcome the people who joined the party recently.
He added that the country cannot afford to be run on a trial basis as this had stopped progress besides bringing the economy to a near standstill.
Abbasi said the country had made tremendous progress during the government of PML-N which ruled from 2013 to 2018. He added when the PML-N came to power Karachi was a lawless city.
The PML-N faced big problems, but it restored peace in Karachi, and law and order has prevailed from August 2016.
The former prime minister said the sanctity of the ballot must prevail and the people should tolerate governments that come into power after striking underhand deals with non-democratic forces.
