The first meeting of the Provincial Coordination and Implementation Committee (PCIC) was held on Wednesday at the Karachi Metropolitan Commission's head office.
The committee, formed in September 2020 for the planning and execution of the Rs1.1 trillion Karachi Transformation Plan, decided that the K-Electric and the KMC would conduct one-window operations to resolve issues pertaining to streetlights and electricity.
Karachi Administrator Laeeq Ahmed asked the KE to not carry out load shedding for streetlights at least for the duration of special events being held in the city.
The meeting decided that Abbasi Shaheed Hospital's arrears to the Sui Southern Gas Company would be repaid in installments and the gas connection would be restored. .
Moreover, the meeting was informed that a committee has been formed to ascertain the actual controller of Sharae Faisal henceforth. This step has been taken as many authorities have claimed administrative control of the locality and the disputes have persisted for several years, the meeting was told.
Participants were apprised that there are 106 roads under the administrative control of the KMC and it was only the KMC who could issue a no-objection certificate (NOC) for road cutting for uplift purposes.
