LAHORE:

In yet another incident of brutal police violence, a man claimed that an assistant sub inspector (ASI) punched him in the face consequently breaking his front teeth over a minor parking issue near a market in Delhi Gate area on Tuesday.

The victim, Akash Riaz, said he was parked near a market where his family had gone to shop for an upcoming marriage ceremony. He said ASI Ansar approached him and asked him to leave the location immediately.

“I told him that my family was out shopping and they do not have a cell phone with them to contact me to ask my location if I left the site,” Akash stated.

“Even after knowing my predicament, the cop started coercing me to leave which resulted in an altercation that escalated into a physical assault on him,” he added.

Reportedly, DIG Operations Sajjid Kiyani took notice of the incident and suspended the ASI and ordered inquiry.
