‘Entire Punjab population to get health cards’

Health insurance of up to Rs1 million would be provided to each family

Punjab Minister for Law and Cooperatives Basharat Raja has said the Punjab government wants to ensure the provision of health cards to every family this year, which is an important step towards a welfare state.

He was addressing a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House held under his chairmanship on Tuesday. Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Provincial Finance Minister Hashim Javan Bakht, P&D chairman, specialised health secretary, finance secretary, law secretary and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The meeting considered various models for providing free health insurance to every family in Punjab. Raja further said that according to the plan, health insurance of up to Rs1 million would be provided to each family.

He said under this programme, Sahiwal and DG Khan till April and all citizens of other divisions till December would be facilitated. The law minister said this was a huge welfare scheme that would benefit every citizen.
