Sindh reports 386 fresh infections

KARACHI:

The pandemic claimed four more lives and 386 fresh coronavirus cases were detected in Sindh, said Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday. The provincial death toll has climbed to 4,292 while the total tally of confirmed infections thus far has risen to 256,219, according to the statement issued by the CM’s House on the day.

The CM apprised that 239,111 persons, including 319, have also recovered from the contagion. The province has conducted 2,948,971 coronavirus tests thus far. These include 11,040 samples tested between Saturday and Sunday from which 386 new cases were detected.

Elaborating further, Shah said that 12,816 coronavirus patients were under treatment in Sindh. Of them 12,390 were in home isolation, 11 at isolation centres and 415 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 397 patients was stated to be critical, including 52 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of the 386 new cases, 177 were detected from Karachi, including 58 each from South and East districts, 26 from Korangi district, 17 from Central, 14 from West and four from Malir district.

Meanwhile Hyderabad reported 39 new cases, Thatta 21, Jamshoro 18, Ghotki 16, Tando Mohammad Khan 15, Larkana 11, Sanghar and Sujawal reported eight new each coronavirus cases each, Jacobabad and Kashmore seven each, Khairpur and Shikarpur five each, Badin, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, MirpurKhas and Tando Allahyar four each, Noshero Feroze two and Sukkur and Nawabshah each reported one new case.

Citizens were urged to follow coronavirus-related SOPs.
