Kohistan people urged to support Dasu Dam

Commissioner distributes cheques worth Rs300m among evacuees

The top officer of the Hazara division tried to pacify people demanding rightful compensation for their lands going under the water of the planned Dasu Dam.

“People of Kohistan district are peaceful and I hope they will continue their support for the timely construction of Dasu Dam,” Hazara Division Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud said.

He was presiding over a progress review meeting of Dasu Dam in the office of Deputy Commissioner Office Kohistan the other day.

Kohistan Deputy Commissioner Arif Khan Yousafzai told the meeting that so far 2,582 acres of land has been acquired for the construction of Dasu Dam and work on the acquisition of 1,935 acres of land was under process.

It was further told that Rs6.36 billion has been distributed among the landowners in terms of compensation so far and the remaining work will be completed before the stipulated time.

Commissioner also distributed cheques to the tune of Rs300 million to the victims of Dasu Dam in Kohistan.

Earlier Hazara commissioner met with religious scholars and members of civil society on the occasion of his visit to Kohistan and discussed in detail the current situation of the district.

He said that local elders will play a key role in removing obstacles to the construction of the dam and will also ensure all possible cooperation. On this occasion, MNA from Kohistan Malik Afrin Khan, deputy commissioner Kohistan, district collector, land acquisition collector, assistant commissioner were also present.

Commissioner Mehsud also planted spring trees at District Secretariat under the Clean and Green Pakistan Moment.

He also inaugurated the festival and distributed various types of plants among the people.

Mehsud said that each individual should plant a tree to make Kohistan a prosperous district. On this occasion, the World Bank Representative was also present.

Meanwhile, the Regional Office of the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat has started hearing petitions at the district level here from Thursday with the commitment to provide cheap and speedy justice at the doorstep of the people for the convenience of the people.

In light of the direction of the Federal Ombudsman, Advisor to the Federal Ombudsman Regional Office Abbottabad and Regional Head Complaints against mismanagement in federal departments on the doorstep will be heard on February 23 at 11 am at the office of executive engineer Pesco Operation City Division Mansehra.

The Office of the Federal Ombudsman provides free, easy and speedy justice. The complainant does not need a lawyer, nor does he have to pay any stamp paper or fees. It should be noted that these complaints are resolved in a short period of one month.

Therefore, the public is informed that complaints against mismanagement in federal departments can be lodged with the Regional Office of the Federal Ombudsman opposite GPO Abbottabad Cantt or by post or online or mobile app.

Their legitimate grievances will be addressed immediately.
