KARACHI:

The investigation carried out in the murder of two persons, Adnan and Anila alias Aini, in Boat Basin earlier this month has thrown up some interesting facts. The police have now come to the conclusion that they were gunned down after they had an argument.

According to a source in the police, Adnan and Anila, were neighbours and residents of Hijrat Colony. They had parked their car in a deserted street of Boat Basin on the night of February 1, as they were searching for a washroom. A man in a car was already parked in the street and he had an argument with them, after which he shot both of them dead, the source said. According to the source, footage acquired from the control and command centre shows the killer fleeing in the direction of Mai Kolachi. The source's account of the chain of events was corroborated by eyewitnesses and the police are searching for the culprit and his vehicle.

Earlier, the police had included Anila's stepfather in the investigation, after acquiring the deceased woman's call data records. According to the police, Anila hailed from Sargodha and used to live with her stepfather in Hijrat Colony. She was married, the police said, adding that Anila's husband, Altaf, had told the cops that on the night of the murder, she had stepped out to buy medicines.
