Over 250 fresh Covid-19 infections detected in Sindh

Contagion tally climbs to 254,015 in Sindh

The pandemic claimed seven more lives in Sindh and over 250 fresh cases were detected in the province, said Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday.

The results of 10,609 Covid-19 tests were released on the day and 254 samples were found infected, said Shah, in a statement issued from the Chief Minister's House on the day.

 A total of 2,883,269 tests have been conducted thus far, said the CM elaborating further.

 The provincial coronavirus tally rose to 254,015 on the day while the pandemic death toll stood at 4,226.

The CM added that 235, 854 persons in Sindh have recovered from the contagion including 384 overnight. Of the new cases, 158 belonged to Karachi, with 75 detected in East district, 41 in South district, 21 in Central, 13 in Korangi and eight in Malir district.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 16 fresh cases, Matiari 14, Umerkot 11, Ghotki and Thatta reported seven each, Badin and Jamshoro six each, Sujawal five, Sanghar four, Larkana and Noshero Feroze three each, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan two each and Jacobabad, Kambar Shahdadkot, Sukkur and Khairpur reported one new case each.

According to the CM, 13,935 infected persons were under treatment in Sindh on Monday, with 13,442 in home isolation, 14 at isolation centres and 479 in different hospitals.

He said that the condition of 436 patients, including 56 on ventilators, was critical Citizens were urged to follow the coronavirus-mandated standard operating procedures.
