RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Anti-Corruption Department has registered cases against four people, including a clerk and an operator of the Rawal Town municipal administration, for allegedly tampering with the record of births and deaths.

Anti-Corruption Assistant Director Zahid Zahoor said they were interrogating the suspects and running an investigation.

The official said the Anti-Corruption Circle officer had told them that an inquiry against officials of the Murree Revenue Department was underway given a source report.

An official said the inquiry was started after the birth certificate of a citizen was sent for confirmation and the record was summoned from the municipal corporation.

The official said the citizen’s original name was found to be Abdullah Khan and the anti-corruption doubted that he had registered him by the name of Muhammad Nabi through record tampering.

Therefore, the data was forwarded to the Punjab Forensic Science Laboratory in Lahore, he added.

The forensic report revealed that the record was tempered and the citizen’s new name, Muhammad Nabi, was included after record tempering, he stated.
