Two more MQM-P candidates file nomination papers

A total of 10 candidates have filed their nomination papers before the ECP thus far while

KARACHI:

Two more candidates of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) submitted their nomination papers on Sunday for the upcoming Senate elections.

Dr Shahab Imam will be contesting on the seat for technocrats while Sabeen Ghauri is to contest on the reserved seat for women for the Senate elections to be held on March 3.

A total of 10 candidates have filed their nomination papers before the Election Commission of Pakistan thus far while 13 candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party have also submitted their nomination papers.

Candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Grand Democratic Alliance are expected to file their nomination papers with the ECP today (Monday), which is the last date for submission.

According to the ECP's new schedule, the final list of the candidates will be released on February 16, and returning officers will verify the papers over the course of two days - on February 17 and February 18. Candidates will be able to challenge the approval and rejection of nomination papers until February 20.

March 3 will be the day of voting in the national and provincial assemblies for the Senate elections.
