Sindh sees 371 new Covid-19 cases, 16 more deaths

Over 4,000 fresh recoveries reported in province; 172 cases detected in Karachi alone

Sindh reported 16 more coronavirus-related deaths and 371 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House.

In the statement, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said following these developments, the infection tally in the province had climbed to 253,089 and the death toll to 4,199.

According to the CM, of the new cases, Karachi reported 172, Hyderabad 32, Matiari 17, Shaheed Benazirabad 15, Jamshoro 14, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Dadu and Ghotki 11 each, Thatta 10, Sanghar nine, Badin and Kahsmore- Kandhkot seven each, Shikarpur six, Jacobabad five, Larkana, Tando Allahyar and Sujawal four each, Umerkot three and Qamabar-Shahdadkot and Naushero Feroze two each.

He said 4,939 Covid-19 patients had recovered overnight, lifting the total number of recoveries in the province to 234,584.

This leaves 14,306 actives cases here, the CM said, adding that 13,770 Covid- 19 patients were in home isolation, nine in isolation centres and 527 in hospitals. Of them, he added, 487 are critically ill, with 63 on ventilators.

The CM urged citizens to follow pandemic-related standard operating procedures so as to curb the spread of the contagion.
