Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Sardar Sikandar Hayat on Friday announced quitting the party and joining Muslim Conference as its supreme head.
In a joint press conference with central leader of the Muslim Conference Sardar Ateeq Ahmed Khan, Hayat, who had served as senior vice president of the PML-N in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, announced the decision to leave the party at Salar House Kotli.
However, Hayat’s son Sardar Farooq Sikandar refused to leave the PML-N.
The two former prime ministers unanimously decided to revive the party status, while Ateeq urged the alliance was urgently needed in the prevailing situation.
During the media briefing, Hayat said Ateeq was his dear friend and admitted that misunderstanding had been created on both sides due for keeping the two leaders at a distance.
Hayat regretted on missing the funeral prayer of Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan due to illness.
The newly-joined leader expressed satisfaction that he was successful in putting the Muslim Conference into its due place. “I have learned politics from the father of Ateeq and I am ready to lead Muslim Conference,” he said, adding the time had proved that the Muslim Conference was the true representative party of people.
Meanwhile, Hayat appealed people and workers to join the party and support it in achieving objectives.
