‘Ensuring justice to litigants should be top priority’
District and Session Judge Attock Naveed Raza Bokhari on Tuesday said that ensuring justice to the litigants across the board must be the top priority of the judiciary.
"Judges must be God-fearing when using their powers as all are answerable to the Almighty Allah," Bokhari said while addressing a function held in the honour of newly-appointed judges.
Judges said lawyers wanted to have honour and self-respect which was their due right. “But the respect and honour must also be maintained at every level,” he emphasised.
Judges and lawyers together could ensure timely and speedy justice, he added.
The Punjab Bar Council member and Discipline Committee Chairman Israr Ahmad said 3,900 applications against lawyers had been lying pending for the last six months and that decisions on these applications would be taken soon.
He said action against those with fake degrees will be taken as per the law.
