CDWP approves four schemes worth Rs6.8b

Recommends one project worth Rs43.3b to ECNEC for review

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday approved four projects worth Rs6.8 billion and recommended one project worth Rs43.32 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) for further consideration.

Chaired by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, a project related to energy named “16MW Hydro Power Project Naltar-III, Gilgit” and worth Rs6.2 billion was approved by the CDWP.

It covers construction of a 16-megawatt hydroelectric power project for energy transmission to Gilgit through the existing 66-kilovolt transmission line of Naltar-V in a bid to meet electricity requirement of Gilgit town and its surrounding areas.

Three projects related to information technology were also presented in the meeting. Details of “Feasibility Study for Establishing Jiddat Investment and Support Fund” worth Rs84.2 million and “Feasibility Study and Consultancy for Development of STZs (Special Technology Zones) in Pakistan” worth Rs165 million were discussed in the meeting.

Apart from these, the “High Impact Skills Boot Camp” project worth Rs420 million was also present. The CDWP approved all the three IT-related projects.

The Ministry of Communications presented a project related to transport and communications titled “Sialkot (Sambial)-Kharian Motorway” worth Rs43.3 billion. The scheme was referred to Ecnec for approval.

The project envisages construction of 69km four-lane Sambial-Kharian Motorway with structures to be constructed for six lanes. It will be a divided controlled access with a 0.6-metre barrier as median and having right of way for 100 metres.
