A high court’s division bench in Rawalpindi has set aside the conviction of a woman who was sentenced to four-and-a-half-year imprisonment in a drug case by a lower court.
Justice Shahbaz Ali Rizvi and Justice Sadiq Mehmood Khurram acquitted Sadia Khurshid alias Abida who was earlier convicted for selling three kilogrammes of heroin. The woman had also been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 50,000.
Advocate Yasir Sultan Yousafzai accused the authorities of registering a false case against the woman who was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force in Attock. He said no drugs or contraband items were found on the woman on the spot.
After completion of arguments, the high court’s division bench quashed the sentence and ordered the officials to set the woman free,
