Young woman ‘gang-raped’ by neighbours in Lahore
A 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two of her neighbours in Lahore’s Mozang area on Friday.
According to details, the victim was alone at her residence when her neighbours Ehsan Ali and Hassan allegedly barged into the house, subjected her to severe torture and then sexually assaulted her.
The victim filed a complaint with the police against the two suspects. Police claimed to have registered a case and are searching for the suspects in the case to investigate the matter further.
Meanwhile, Punjab police chief Inam Ghani while taking notice of the incident, sought a report from Lahore CCPO and ordered strict legal action against the culprits.
The Punjab IGP said that justice should be served to the victim on priority basis.
Earlier this week, two teenage girls were allegedly sexually assaulted in separate incidents in Dijkot, a small city of district Faislabad.
Police had registered cases and launched investigation to arrest the culprits.
According to the police report, Muhammad Zeeshan's 14-year-old niece was alone in her house when her brother-in-law Nadeem sexually assaulted her in Hajveri Town area of Sargodha Road.
The suspect fled from the crime scene.
Last year, the Punjab government decided to establish Rape Investigation Unit (RIU) at every police station level owing to an unabated rise in cases of assault in the province.
The unit would investigate rape, molestation and harassment cases only like the previously formed designated homicide and narcotics investigation units.
The government would deploy separate Investigation Officers (IOs) to probe into such incidents only.
