LONDON:

The Tehreek-e-Kashmir United Kingdom (TeK UK) held an online Kashmir solidarity conference in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Week to take notice of Indian illegal occupation, and grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Distinguished guests from the UK, US, Pakistan and other parts of the world said that the struggle of Kashmiris was based on rights and Justice and are struggling for the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.

They said that for 70 years, India has usurped the human and democratic rights of Kashmiris and occupied Kashmir by force of arms.

Dr Imtiaz Khan said that India is conspiring to genocide Kashmiris as well as to resettle non-Kashmiri extremist Hindus to change the proportion of the population if the international community did not break the silence and stop India's nefarious plans. "Narendra Modi will destroy peace in South Asia."

TeK Europe President Muhammad Ghalib said that Kashmir issue is not a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and the right to self-determination for Kashmiris has been recognised by the world.

"If not resolved peacefully, tensions in the region and two nuclear powers in the meantime, the military confrontation will bring nothing but destruction and ruin. Britain is a permanent member of the [UN] Security Council hence it must play its part," he added.

John Rees, central leader of the Stop the War Coalition, said the UN resolutions give Kashmir the right to decide its own future on its own.

"Put pressure on the Indian government to resolve Kashmir dispute peacefully with dialogue. British MPs should urge the UK government to use its relations with India to find a peaceful solution to the dispute."

British Political Lead Salma Yaqoob drew attention to the fact that British and European democracy have been under assault from India due to the sharing of false information as exposed by disinfo lab. She shared her concerns that the current UK labour leader is supporting the matter as a bilateral.

Alistair Wingate of the Socialist Worker Party said that the current situation is horrific. "The military tactics being used by India are a deliberate attempt to maim and destroy. Our duty is to keep to pressure on our political representatives and working to stop the selling of arms," he added.

Claire Bidwell, co-founder of Let Kashmir Decide, asserted that self-determination is a basic human right as promised by the UN. She emphasised the unity of all to solve the conflict and highlighted the atrocities being carried out by the Indian government.

Ian Scott, the president of the of Birmingham Trades Union, said that the trade unions have always supported Kashmiris rights to self-determination. He said people are being killed and families divided by the Line of Control (LoC). "We must work together to build up our demands for the resolutions to be implemented according to UNSC."

Palestinian leader Kamal Khawash said that the United Nations has a bad name in resolving the issue of Palestine and Kashmir.

"India and Israel are a serious threat to world peace. Both countries have heated up the market of oppression and barbarism and the world is a silent spectator," he added.

The conference was chaired by TeK UK Raja President Fahim Kayani and moderated by Khawaja Muhammad Suleiman.
