Sindh confirms 478 fresh Covid cases

With eight new fatalities, provincial death toll shoots past 4,000

Sindh reported another 478 coronavirus cases and eight new fatalities on Monday lifting the provincial covid tally and death toll to 247,726 and 4,004, respectively.

According to a statement issued by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, 10,355 samples were tested and 478 persons tested positive for the contagion, indicating a current detection rate of 4.6 per cent. A total of 2,736,135 tests have been conducted thus far.

Shah further apprised that 319 persons have recovered in the last 24 hours, and the total number of recoveries in the province is 224,983.

As many as 18,739 patients are under treatment in Sindh, of which 17,921 are in home isolation, 14 are at isolation centres, and 804 are admitted at different hospitals. The condition of 732 patients is stated to be critical, with 78 patients shifted to ventilators. Of the fresh covid cases, 298 were reported from Karachi, of these 114 were from South, 87 were from East, 60 were from Central, 19 were Malir, and nine were from Korangi and West districts each.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 48 new cases, Matiari 17, Shaheed Benazirabad 15, Dadu and Badin 14 each, Ghotki and Mirpurkhas nine each, Shikarpur six, Jamshoro five, Naushero Feroze and Thatta four each, Larkana three, Tando Allahyar Umerkot, Kamber and Khairpur two each, Sukkur one.
