Travellers arrested for carrying fake Covid negative reports

They were offloaded from the flight at Peshawar airport

Officials arrested two persons on Monday for carrying forged Covid-19 test reports at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) in Peshawar.

“We have arrested two persons for carrying fake test reports and they have been handed over to police,” a senior official told The Express Tribune.

The officer, who requested anonymity, informed that this was the second time any passengers were arrested for producing completely forged documents.

It is pertinent to note that six persons were arrested for the same crime while they were travelling aboard different flights to different states in United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the weekend.

“They had boarded the plane but were off-loaded and later handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further interrogation,” an officer informed this reporter.

The federal health department officials refused to comment on the incident.

Corona vaccination will start in the province from Wednesday. In the first phase, frontline workers including doctors and other medical staff will be vaccinated.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi thanked China for once again proving its everlasting friendship with Pakistan by gifting the country half a million doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine that arrived on Monday on special Pakistan Air Force plane.
