Silt cleaning at Khanpur Dam to affect water supply

Rawalpindi will only be supplied two MGD of water instead of the regular supply of six MGD

RAWALPINDI:

The annual silt cleaning activity of the open water channel from Khanpur Dam would create a shortfall of four million gallons per day (MGD) of water in Rawalpindi.

Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Raja Shaukat Mehmood on Sunday stated that the dredging activity would continue from February 1 to February 8.

He added that Rawalpindi would only be supplied two MGD of water instead of the regular supply of six MGD.

The WASA MD urged residents to avoid washing floors and cars, watering their lawns every day, and store water for the next week to avoid facing difficulties. He added that WASA is taking measures to ensure supply from bowsers and tube wells to fulfill the needs of locals.
