RAWALPINDI:

After remaining closed for years, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in Rawalpindi has reopened the women's fitness facility at Gulzar Fatima Park, a spokesperson shared on Sunday. The gym located near Chandni Chowk had been closed a few years ago.

The PHA Vice Chairman Malik Abid Hussain said that the gym was reopened due to the interest and efforts of PHA Chairman Asif Mehmood. He mentioned that the chairman had visited Fatima and Bilal Parks in the garrison city and directed the staff to work diligently to turn parks into proper green spaces.

He further stated that the PHA would turn all previously closed gyms in different parks of the city functional again.

The vice-chairman maintained that the formation of a healthy society is only possible with women alongside men.

Furthermore, he directed to restore broken pavements and make special nurseries to plant decorative plants at Fatima and Bilal Parks. Hussain also instructed to make arrangements for fitness space for women besides sitting facilities for them in both the parks.
