Beggars told to submit surety bonds for bails

As the police presented dozens of beggars before a local court on Thursday, the latter directed the nabbed persons to submit surety bonds of Rs5,000 against their bails.

Beggars who do not pay the surety amount are to be sent to jail, the court instructed the cops, who presented the beggars arrested by different police stations before the court.

Prior to the issuance of these directives, the investigation officer informed the court that the arrested persons were nabbed while they were begging at various traffic signals.

He further stated that the police had launched a crackdown on beggar mafia in Karachi.

Zain Effendi murder case

Separately, the East judicial magistrate recorded the confessional statement of an accused, Faizan, in Zain Effendi murder case.

Before the court, Faizan confessed to providing a SIM card to persons accused of the murder.

Accused Rehmatullah, Imran and Gul Muhammad have been identified by eyewitnesses.

Effendi was shot dead at his house during a robbery on January 6, 2021.
