ISLAMABAD:

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Wednesday observed that horse trading was a “common practice” in the Senate elections but only his province was maligned in this regard.

Speaking to media outside the Supreme Court, Kamal said that in order to curb floor crossing, they had backed the suggestion of holding elections in the upper house of parliament through open ballot.

He noted that recently a woman from Balochistan Awami Party was elected as senator and that no floor crossing was done for the purpose.

The chief minister said that he and his party were against horse trading.

Responding to a question, he expressed the hope that the killers of the Hazara community would be arrested soon.

He said India was involved in terrorism activities in Balochistan, adding that the arrest of spy Kulbhushan Jadhav was the biggest proof of it.

To another question about Karima Baloch who was found “mysteriously” dead in Canada last month, Kamal said no curfew had been imposed or restrictions placed during the funeral of the deceased in Turbat.

He said some political parties were playing politics on the issue of Karima’s death.

He said Karima’s statements were on record where she had spoken against the Balochistan National Party and other parties and added that today these entities were playing politics on her death.
