13 held during search operation in Sector H-12

DIG Operations reviews Rescue 15 call logs, directs registration of FIRs

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Police conducted a search operation in Sector H-12 and adjoining slum areas and detained 13 individuals, a spokesperson shared on Monday.

DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar said that the purpose of these search operations was to increase the security in the capital and curb criminal elements. He directed all police officials to maintain high vigilance against those involved in anti-social activities.

“Safety of life and property of the citizens is our prime responsibility and no stone will be left unturned in this regard,” he added.

Kausar emphasised that the police will not compromise on its policy regarding immediate and free registration of crime and take stern action against those involved in delaying the registration of first information reports (FIRs).

He shared that Rescue 15 call logs were thoroughly reviewed for data of the last quarter of 2020 upon the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamilur Rehman and directed all zonal officers to immediately register FIRs on the reported crime cases.

As a result of this, a total of 61 FIRs have been registered so far while process is underway for registration of other cases. The DIG mentioned that a complaint cell would also be established.

Later, Kausar conducted meetings with zonal superintendents (SPs) and directed them to complete investigation of pending cases based on merit. He further asked to launch a crackdown on professional alm-seekers and their handlers.

The DIG directed search operations to be conducted in areas such as Tarnol, Sihala and Bara Kahu. He also asked the respective officers to undertake comprehensive measures to prevent crime and ensure arrest of anti-social elements.
