Teachers need approval of principals to enter FDE

The teachers have voiced their strong concern over the end of Saturday as holiday

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has asked teachers not to enter the premises of the directorate without obtaining prior permission from their heads.

In a surprising development, the FDE has linked the admissions of teachers in its building with the permission of the principals of education institutions, inviting criticism from teachers.

A notification was issued by the FDE in this regard which has been obtained by the Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, the holidays on Saturdays in all institutions under FDE have been ended too. The teachers have voiced their strong concern over the end of Saturday as holiday due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Talking to the Express Tribune the teachers said that that the FDE was their parent institution and they have to visit it often for administrative work so the condition should be withdrawn.

“We often visit the FDE after completing our duty and obtaining permission from the principal is time consuming,” he said.

Furthermore, the teachers they also criticized classes without any break, saying that the Covid-19 could spread more rapidly if the students were made to sit in classes continuously during the school hours in the current cold weather.
