Early completion of Daducha Dam stressed

Distribution of compensation money among the affectees of Mahuta Dam is underway

RAWALPINDI:

Early completion of the planned water reservoirs is necessary to end the water shortage faced by the people of the twin cities during the summers.

Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood said that the work on the Daducha Dam must continue uninterruptedly as the project of public interest was already delayed in the past.

He said that a timeline for completion of the project would be designed while the progress on the project would be reviewed every week. Mehmood was addressing a meeting to review progress on the small dams at the Commissioner’s Office on Monday.

He instructed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to prepare feasibility of water supply from Daducha Dam. He also directed to form a committee, including officers from Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), RDA, Environmental Protection Department, forest department, and irrigation department.

He also said that distribution of compensation money among the affectees of Mahuta Dam is underway.
