Covid infections decline in capital: report

The weekly positivity ratio of the novel coronavirus infections has dropped significantly in the federal capital in January from 6.83 per cent to 1.75 per cent, the District Health Authority (DHA) informed on Sunday.
The District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Zaeem Zia said that the drop in infection rate is a big success and it came about as a result of cooperation among several entities.
As per the data released by DHA, the rate of infection in the federal capital has dropped sharply. During the second wave of the virus, the most number of infection cases were recorded from November 22 to 28 with 3,250 people contracting the viral disease.
According to DHA data some 2,565 people had tested positive for the Covid-19 infection from November 29 to December 5. Similarly, 2,587 cases were reported from December 6 to 13.

However, the rate then significantly dropped as only 1,000 infection cases were reported from December 21 to 27 and the numbers were declined even further in January.
Between January 4 and 10, some 974 people had tested positive for the pandemic in the capital followed by 899 from January 11 to January 17. Last week from January 18 to 23, the positive cases stood at 610. On Sunday, 84 new coronavirus infection cases were reported from the city during the last 24 hours, National Command and Operation Center said.
