Prince Charles' love for Diana was overlooked in ‘The Crown’, says former royal chef

While few palace insiders agree the ‘cold’ and ‘uncaring’ depiction is accurate, Darren McGrady is not satisfied

Princess Diana's former royal chef is fact checking The Crown, after disagreeing with one of the major storylines in the series.

In a recent interview with Insider, Darren McGrady has confessed the one thing that the major period drama failed to show, was Prince Charles’ love for Princess Diana. He claimed it was 'overlooked' for the most part.

"I saw the two of them, I saw them dancing at the Ghillies Ball at Balmoral. Everyone was stepping aside and whooping. Charles was the DJ, and Diana in her ball gown,” he recalled.

“She spun him around so fast, he was laughing out loud. You can't hide that. Don't say they were never in love, because seeing things like that ... they should have portrayed more things like that,” he went on to claim.

It is pertinent to mention here that 2017 docuseries The Story of Diana does infact entail how Prince Charles had fallen in love with Princess Diana after their marriage. But it also shows how those feelings were fleeting and after a while, the Prince started seeing his former love interest and now wife, Camilla Parker, again.

Nevertheless, some have alleged The Crown isn’t based on facts to begin with, but few palace insiders, including Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell, have claimed the ‘cold’ and ‘uncaring’ depiction in the series is accurate.
