Plea against judicial remand dismissed

Prosecution says ‘false documents’ yet to be recovered in case filed by Gill

LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge has dismissed a plea filed by the prosecution against judicial remand granted by a magistrate in a case lodged by the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Political Communication Shehbaz Gill in response to a defamation suit.

The prosecution contended that the accused Tahir Mubeen, the operations manager of a company, was yet to be investigated by the officer concerned for recovering ‘false documents’ he had allegedly prepared in the name of the firm.

The prosecution prayed the court that the order of the magisterial court of remanding the accused in judicial custody be declared null and void.

The counsel for the accused implored the court that Gill had lodged a ‘false FIR’ because the petitioner’s company had filed a defamation suit against him.

The Judge, Chaudhry Inam Elahi,dismissed the plea and upheld the magistrate’s order.

The special assistant had lodged the FIR against the accused in Islampura police station after his company, Turizm Tasimacilik,
filed a defamation suit against him.

In the suit, the petitioner stated that it was a part of Albayrak Group of Companies, which had been operating in public transport and waste management services in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore.
