Sushant Singh Rajput fund set for astrophysicists
On Sushant Singh Rajput’s 35th birthday, his sister Shweta Singh Kirti announced a scholarship programme that has been set up for students hoping to study astrophysics just like Rajput. The program is affiliated with the Department of Physics at the University of California in the United States.
“I am happy to announce that on the 35th birthday of Bhai, a step has been taken towards fulfilling one of his dreams,” wrote Shweta on social media.
“The Sushant Singh Rajput Memorial Fund of $35,000 has been set up at UC Berkeley. Anyone who is interested in pursuing Astrophysics at UC Berkeley can apply for it.”
The late actor’s interest in science, astronomy was no secret. He was the owner of advanced Meade 14” LX-600 telescope and even bought a piece of land on the moon called ‘Mare Moscoviense’ or the ‘Sea of Moscvovy’. Co-star Bhumi Pedenkar revealed in an interview that Rajput would carry his telescope almost everywhere hoping to catch glimpse of the stars.
Earlier, Rajput’s family had announced that they would set up a foundation in his name. They said it would honour his memory by supporting young talent in cinema, science and sports as these fields were close to Singh’s heart.
Other entertainment entities and Sushant’s friends including big names like Kiara Advani, Parineeti Chopra, Rajkummar Rao, Kriti Sanon, Preity Zinta and Shraddha Kapoor, celebrated Rajput’s birthday by sharing memories, moments shared together via photos.
