Brick kilns to go zigzag in two months: official

This will improve the environment

RAWALPINDI:

Some 105 brick kilns in Rawalpindi district have been transferred to eco-friendly zigzag technology after which they have been allowed to operate.

Brick Kilns Association (BKA) President Irfan Akhtar Ghega and Secretary-General Chaudhry Raheel told The Express Tribune that some 100 more brick kilns were being up-graded to eco-friendly technology while they had have decided to shift all of them in the next two months.

This will improve the environment he added.

The official told that the environmental protection department and district administration have cooperated with them for this purpose.

The association officials said that all brick kilns operating on old technology would remain shut until the installation of zigzag technology.
