‘Robber’ shot dead by accomplice
A robber was accidentally shot dead by a member of his own gang during a police encounter in the precincts of Sadar Police Station on Thursday, officials claimed.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Ishfaq, a member of the inter-district gang wanted in dozens of cases.
Police said they stopped a suspicious vehicle in which five people were travelling but they opened fire on the personnel as soon as they were intercepted.
In the meantime, one of the robbers was killed by gunfire from his accomplice. Police arrested one of the suspects, identified as Tariq.
The police added that they had recovered a 30-bore pistol along with two bullets from the possession of the gang members.
DPO Muhammad Ali Waseem constituted special teams to arrest the suspected robbers who managed to flee after the encounter.
