AYUBIA:

Tourists avoiding the rush of Murree prefer to go to Galiyat, where authorities have installed picture signs to direct the visitors.

“We had installed the Picture Point Signage (PPS) in different significant points including Dunga Gali, Church Park and other places of the Nathiagali to facilitate the tourist,” Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) Director General Raza Ali Habib told The Express Tribune on Saturday.

The development body has introduced innovation and modernised its system to guide the tourists coming from different parts of the country for promoting tourism in the region, he said.

Habib said that these facilities would be expanded to the other 10 tourist points. The PPS provide guidelines and give direction to the foreign and local tourists for different attractive places and points and gives them opportunity for photography as well.

GDA director general said that this was the part of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government to introduce modern trends at popular destinations for facilitating the tourist.

He said that these picture points will help keep traffic moving. Instead of stopping anywhere in the middle of road to take pictures, boards will direct visitors to picturesque locations. Replying to a question he said that GDA is fully prepared to upgrade the system and provide state of art world class facilities to the tourists to attract tourists in Galiyat.

According to Habib upgradation of tourism infrastructure including roads and tourist related structures like Ayubia chair lift, hotels, food street and parking plaza were in future plan to uplift the tourism in the region. Integrated Tourism Zone (ITZs) Thandiani initial work and planning also been completed and now in this year work to be started on zone, which would complete in next three years.

He said that GDA is committed to provide facilities to the foreign and local tourists and also offers world standard facilities to them.
