Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani has said that Sindh is the first province in the country to issue Benazir Mazdoor Card for labourers. The cards will be issued from this month. He said this while addressing a function organised by the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) on Saturday

He said the Benazir Bhutto Mazdoor Card will have three attributes in one card. It would be an ATM card, a health card and an education card for a worker, in the first phase, the card will be issued to 630,000 workers across the province. In the second and third stages, the card will be given to every worker of Sindh employed in a factory or industry, the drivers of rickshaws, taxis and other public transport. Later the card will also be issued to people doing hard manual labour like road diggers and pushcart vendors.

Minster Saeed Ghani said issuing the Benazir Bhutto Health card in the first phase was a pilot project. He added that it is supposed to fulfill the commitment made by the PPP in its manifesto to provide health, education and other facilities to all workers at their doorstep.

Responding to questions from the media, the PPP leader said that after Sindh initiated the issuance of this card, the other provinces would also have to issue such cards for the welfare of workers across the country.
