ISLAMABAD:
A high level meeting Interior Ministry meeting on Tuesday decided to extend the deadline for revalidation of old arms licenses by one month.
All district level offices of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will accept revalidation requests till September 30 this year.
The holders of old arms licenses will have to visit their respective NADRA offices with their original National Identity Cards, Original Arms License and a complete application form for revalidation. The meeting was chaired by the interior secretary, who, along with other ministry officials, also decided to waive the government fee, meaning only a nominal fee of Rs500 will be charged.
Later, Interior Secretary KM Siddiq Akbar paid his introductory visit to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarters.
He was given a presentation on the working of all wings of the agency. The secretary pledged his support for granting pay packages to FIA staff that are equal to those of all other law enforcement agencies.

I feel its only right to post an update: I finally got a pick up on the 920 number and the person was quite decent but what he told me made perfect sense, when you factor in that who is running this Ministry.
He said, "we have no policy directives as yet, therefore, I cannot give you any information about this" He also did not know when the 'directives' would be sent.
I mentioned decent because he was as confused as I as to why deadlines are being announced, and extended, to the public when nothing has been notified or put into place.
The simple conclusion is that this Ministry is being run by hugely incompetent people.
Well its a good job. But can somebody will tell us how can we change our old book in new card. And if we have licence of islamabad and now we are living in Karachi, is it necessary to change this. And from where it can change from Karachi or from Islamabad.
Called NADRA and they gave me two numbers 051-90392921-22, theres no tone (busy or ringing) on one number and the other no one picks up. Called NADRA again and this time they gave me another number 051-9202398 and again no pick up. NADRA also said that they are still preparing for this and are not fully ready to start the process (whatever that may mean.)
Interior Minister and Interior Secretary would do well to ensure all is in place before giving deadlines etc. and inconveniencing the public probably just to make a few bucks off this weapons licence scam (tender to NADRA/pay-offs etc.)
The CNIC have not helped in identifying the terrorists or reduced the slaughter of innocents in Karachi and elsewhere in Pakistan. There is no logical/sane reason to believe that NADRA licences will magically control illegal weapons, in fact its quite asinine (which may the only thing that makes sense in all this tomfoolery)...people who have legal licences are to get get another type of licence whereas minimum attention is being paid to criminal elements who do not use licensed weapons. As for the fee, a) its not nominal its criminal b) who pays for the time, energy, effort that will be wasted in pursuing, what may well be described as, a personal wet dream of some useless bureaucrat at the Pakistan Ministry of Interior.
