Sindh confirms 1,235 fresh Covid infections

With 11 more fatalities, provincial death toll hits 3,755

Sindh reported another 1,235 coronavirus cases and 11 more fatalities on Thursday, lifting the provincial Covid tally and death toll to 231,953 and 3,755, respectively.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's House, 13,008 samples were tested between Wednesday and Thursday, and 1,235 persons tested positive for the contagion, indicating a positivity ratio of 9.5 per cent. A total of 2,538,842 tests have been conducted thus far.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah further apprised that 647 persons recovered overnight, taking the number of recoveries in the province to 210,774.

As many as 17,424 Covid patients are in Sindh, said Shah, adding that 16,525 of these are in home isolation, 12 are at isolation centres and 887 are admitted at different hospitals. The condition of 817 patients is stated to be critical with at least 92 shifted to ventilators.

Of the fresh Covid cases, 979 were detected in Karachi - 351 reported from South district, 293 from East, 121 from Central, 119 from Korangi, 54 from Malir and 41 from West district.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad reported 48 new cases, Matiari 27, Jamshoro 24, Tando Allahyar 21, Shaheed Benazirabad and Thatta 19 each, Jacobabad 16, Ghotki seven, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Tando Muhammad Khan six each, Larkana and Sukkur five each, Kambar and Sujawal 4 each, Nausheroferoze and Umerkot three each, Kashmore two, Mirpurkhas one.

The CM yet again urged people to follow the coronavirus-mandated standard operating procedures.
