Nigerian arrested for impersonating US servicewoman
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday arrested a Nigerian woman, Friday Okoro, who was impersonating as a US Army soldier.
She was accused of luring a resident of Swat into a honeytrap in order to rob him off his money and belongings.
Sources familiar with the matter told The Express Tribune that a Nigerian national emailed a resident of Swat, saying that she was a widow who was seeking a new life partner after the sudden death of her husband.
“She was impersonating as a US Army soldier and claimed to have inherited a large sum of money from her late husband. She also showed her interest to invest in the local construction sector in order to lure the man into a trap but he became suspicious and informed the FIA about the entire episode that prompted the agency to initiate an investigation to locate and arrest the woman,” said a police official.
He confirmed that Okoro was booked for fraud and will be produced before the court.
